Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between farmer and consumer in which the responsibilities, risks and rewards of farming are shared.

Farmers receive a more stable, secure income, closer connection with their community and consumers benefit by eating healthy local food, feeling more connected to the land where their food is grown and have opportunities to learning new skills.

Woodhouse tries to sell most of its fruit and vegetables through a CSA arrangement with members of the community, be it a weekly or fortnightly share which for a small extra cost can be delivered. We do arrange monthly work days and would like members to attend at least 3 days a year, activities include onion planting, potato harvesting, apple pressing and will also include cake and refreshments or a bring and share lunch.

Rare Breed Grass Fed Beef

Woodhouse is home to a small herd of Irish Moile Cows a native breed of Ireland that fell out of favor with the introduction of continental breed and with currently less than 750 breeding heifers in existance one to watch. Rare Breed Grass Fed Beef is now back in stock at the farm with a selection of steaks, joints both roasting and slow cooking  plus diced and miced beef. Our beef is raised without the addition of unnessesary antibiotics and only eat grass and waste vegetables from the walled garden.

Our fruit and vegetables

The walled garden now hosts a wealth of exotic and traditional  fruit trees against the south, west and north facing walls, the centre of the garden is given over to a formal four bed design with walk ways and futher scuptured trees  bridge the gap between a productive field and a beautiful oasis to enjoy.

2019 has once again seen the garden planted with a vast selection of fruit and vegeatables

  • Red and white onions, shallots, spring onions, garlic and leeks
  • French, runner, broad beans and peas
  • Cauliflower, savoy, pointed and round cabbages, kale, calabrese, kalettes and sprouts
  • Potatoes, parsnips, swede, artichokes (jerusalm and globe), kohl rabi, fennel, beetroot and turnips
  • Sweetcorn, courgettes, aubergines,  squash, and pumpkins
  • Chillies, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, endive, spinach and chard

Our fruit bed and trees include...

  • Raspberries, tayberries, red and white gooseberries
  • Red, black and white currants
  • Figs, apricots, peaches and nectarines
  • Damsons, plums, cherries and quinces
  • Apples, pears, quince and crab apples

New for this year we have inca berries which should be ready shortly, the year as a whole has been a bit disappointing with frost catching the plums, damsons and gages and figs taking longer to ripen. We hope to have a better year next year.

Our home-made produce

From the ever changing selection of jams, chutneys and pickles produced on site to the fresh homemade cakes and scones served with a pot of tea, coffee or squash in our new cafe. We like to offer a seasonal twist with everything being made here at the farm from our own produce.

Free range Eggs

The farm is home to approximately 150 chickens who have all been raised for eggs, they enjoy a free range life protected in the walled garden and eggs are usually available for sale. Please note that we do not use artificial light to increase production through the winter months so there will be some seasonal variations in availability.
