Whittington Cubs


The Cubs from Whittington have been volunteering at the farm for the last four years helping us makeup the benches for the seating area, picking stones out of the potato bed.

Sutton Coldfield Adventure Unit


For a number of years the SCAU Group have used the farm for camping but this year they wanted to give something back and have been helping us prepare some of the community areas ready for this years visitors. Activities have included weeding, re-staining seeding and raised beds, planting vegetables seeds and flowers.

Visit From Friends of Hednesford Park


25th April 2018 a group of volunteers from the Friends of Hednesford Park came on an activity day developing there veg growing skills with a walk around the garden and helping with planting.

Halloween 2017


Scary fun in the community area, Stories areound the camp fire after gsmrd in thre walled garden and pumkin soup to finish.

Apple Pressing 2017


Our yearly community event collecting the cider apples, pressing and tasting the juice.

Heritage Open Days


A speical walk around the remaining features of the Capability Brown landscape including bridges, haha and orangery.

Fairtrade Teas 2017


Once again the farm hosted a celebration of World Fair Trade Day with visitors enjoying a selection of Fairtrade Teas, Coffee and Homemade cakes.

SCAU camping visits 2017


April saw two visits from Sutton Coldfield Adventure Unit, the first being for the youger group with alot of them not having camped before. I met them when doing the rounds of feeding Saturday morning and let them give me a hand to feed the cows.

Apple Pressing Day


Saturday 8th October saw visitors and volunteers a like pitching in to pick the cider apples, crushing, pressing and then tasting the juice. Fun afternoon which produced our largest yield of juice yet.

Heritage Open Days


Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery, the Landscape Institute was able to organise Heritage Open Days around the country. Woodhouse opened it's doors and took visitors on a walk around the old Capability Brown Features including bridges and a Ha Ha that was part of the remodeled Fisherwick Estate.

Summer BBQ and Open Day


Woodhouse welcomed visitors from the community and CSA members to join them for a BBQ and afternoon of games and treasure hunts around the walled garden. A relaxed event which saw pizza's being made in the outdoor oven and Woodhouse sausages and burgers on the BBQ.

Sutton Coldfield Adventure Unit


Another big supporter of our project, working with SCAU has been very rewarding for us seeing children from all three of the age groups they work with enjoying camping at the farm.  This year saw a very special Harry Potter Themed Camp to introduce new 7-9 years old to the joy of camping with a special visit from Hedwig arranged by the group.

Wellies Project

We have worked with Nick and Julie from Staffordshire Care Farming Development CIC since 2010 providing a base to host Care Farming projects supporting people from Lichfield and Tamworth.  Care Farming is the use of therapeutic activities involving animals, plants, and the conutryside for people recovering from mental ill health.

Guide Evening Volunteering


This year will see both local guide packs help improve the community area, firstly by creating low maintenance fairy gardens and then building outdoor games for themselves and other visitors to enjoy.

Cubs Evening Volunteering


For the last five years our local cub group (1st Whittington) have come to the farm over three consecutive weeks to help with activities that help the growers or add to the outdoor community area. This year we had a walk around the farm looking at how we might create a walk way and at the end of the evening the boys fed the chickens.

Brownie Evening


The picture shown was taken after a fun activity evening the Brownies had at Woodhouse it was taken at the end of the evening as new Brownies made their promise and those leaving to go to Guides were wished well as parent looked on.

Come along to the farm Friday or Saturday 11-4, purchase a selection of seasonal farm produce.  Don't forget to say hello to the animals or have a walk around the walled garden

July seems to mark the start of fruit season with Raspberries, Redcurrants and even blackvberries being picked at the moment.
